Ms. Brooke Sihota // Business Education and Technology Teacher // Field Hockey Coach //
about. me.Welcome! My name is Ms. B. Sihota and this year I will be teaching Entrepreneurship 12 (YELL), Yearbook, ENT/MKT 8, Careers 8, DM 11/12 & ICT 9/10. It is important for me to provide my students with a safe and productive classroom environment in which, they can discover the process of starting up a small business and developing digital media and technology skills. I am a proud alumni of Central Michigan University (#fireupchips)where I was awarded a full athletic scholarship (field hockey) and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Administration with a focus in Marketing. I completed my Bachelor of Education here in Vancouver at the University of British Columbia. It is my goal to provide my students with a digital platform in which they can stay connected if they are away from class or need extra information to complete their assignments. This blog is also an opportunity for me to connect with my students parents on a regular basis. It is such a unique time to be an educator with the all of the exciting changes that are occurring in education. My teaching style falls directly in line with the core competencies in which the new curriculum is centred around. It is my goal as a teacher to provide meaningful and relevant material that challenges my students to focus on the following core competencies; communication, critical and creative thinking, positive personal and cultural identity, personal awareness and responsibility as well as social responsibility. |
how. to. succeed.High school is a time to explore interests and develop a sense of professional direction. It's an opportunity for students to discover their own skills and hidden talents. Through variety of projects and assignments, students are challenged to think critically and creativity. A quality education provides students the tools and information necessary in which they can apply and can continue to build upon during life outside of high school. avoid. falling. behind.Being a teenager in high school can be tough. Do you feel like there is not enough time in the day? You and me both! Be careful not to fall behind by staying organized with a "to do list". Prioritizing your workload by importance will help you tackle some of the more time consuming projects, assignments, tasks and activities. Before you open Snapchat, Youtube, Instagram or Fortnite, think to yourself- is there something else you should be doing with your time? Challenge yourself to eliminate the unnecessary distractions in your life and focus for 15 minutes at a time. This will allow you to be more effective in short spurts and provide your brain an opportunity to rest and have to knowledge sink in. |
